The Silver Package that Peter and John organise, offers the same five star personal treatment as the Gold Package. The main difference lies in the courses played and the accommodation. For the Silver Package golfers stay at the excellent Eurotel Hotel in Altura.
Not only are golfers in the party met at Gatwick ariport and helped with check in, when arriving at Faro, John and Peter organise the car hire and then lead the group in convoy to the hotel. Hassle free check in is supervised while the golfers relax with a glass of champagne
The accommodation is based on half board with two sharing. However, a supplement of £75 for the stay applies for anyone requiring a single room. Breakfasts are marvellous and dinner is buffet style with many excellent dishes on offer. There is entertainment during the evening ranging from Flamenco dancing, to bands playing traditional Spanish music.
'What a thoroughly enjoyable holiday that was. The excellent company ensured that there was no pressure and with the clear and concise tuition from John and Peter, I know that I have improved'. Peter Minett
Depending on time of arrival, John and Peter normally hold a clinic at one of the nearby courses during a relaxing afternoon. This time gives an opportunity for golfers to meet each other and wind down after travelling. During the week there are clinics on short game, long game (including how to shape shots!), putting, on course tactics and rules.
During the evening, over pre dinner drinks, the format for the following day, including pairings is handed out. Each day John and Peter play in a group so every golfer can benefit from playing with a pro. Not only is this beneficial for the swing but many shots can be saved by learning efficient tactics and club selection. This really is a massive plus for all the golfers.
The first round is played on the Costa Esuri West Course which is (approx) 7000 yards off the men's back tees. However, all rounds during the week are played off the men's tees of the day or for the girls, the ladies tees. This reduction in length makes the course easily playable. But not only is it a great test of golf, running alongside the beautiful Guadiana River, the course is a pleasure to play and is John Hoskison's favourite course in the Algarve!
Normally the first round is played in a four ball competition to ease everyone into the week. After the round (consisting of a relaxing drink and lunch) Peter and John give a clinic to help anyone who is struggling with their game. This normally means a trip to the putting green as the fast and perfect greens do expose putting weaknesses!
'This was our first golf holiday and what a memorable one! We enjoyed it so much and it was so good to make new friends. We hope that there will be another chance to repeat this lovely experience'. Elaine
The second round is played on the magnificent Quinta da Ria course, just over the border in Portugal. The format of the day depends on how people have played the day before but the pairings are changed so all golfers are playing with each other. The experience of playing with John and Peter is particularly beneficial during this round and often they play six holes with one group, and then move onto the next so everyone can play a few holes with the pros.
The third and fourth round means a trip to Quinta do Vale (a Ballesteros Signature Course) and Costa Esuri where individual stablefords, with full handicap, are played. In the evening of the third or forth night Peter and John meet everyone for a drink in Laguna Plaza in nearby Ayamonte (5 minute drive), which is a beautiful traditional Spanish Town with many delightful bars - perfect for an evening drink in the setting sun.
There are no nightclubs and no bars showing football in Ayamonte. With the Donana National Park nearby, the top priority of the local authorities is to maintain the status quo - a delightful atmosphere encapsulating traditional Spain.
The last round is played at the spectacular Quinta da Cima Golf Course, used in the European Senior Tour Qualifying School. This is a fantastic course and offers a superb climax to the week. On all courses buggies are available as well as trollies. All of these extra details, that can make so much difference to the quality of the trip, are covered by John and Peter who make sure all arrangements are made. In the evening of the last day a prize presentation is carried out over dinner in the Riu Atlantico Hotel which is enjoyed by all.
'The entertaining clinics and the accompanied golf games certainly made us all improve. Not only are John and Peter very good teachers but they have that extra ability to care about the progress of all the golfers. Their enthusiasm and concern were that extra factor that made the holiday so enjoyable. Everything was so well organised from the travel arrangements to the daily golf games'. Judith Nicoll
